Keeping Short Accounts
I often get a chuckle from that well-worn expression: God needs to keep me on a short leash. Oh, how my own wandering heart needs to be brought back onto the straight and narrow path God directs us to remain on. My “walk” with the Lord, isn’t always in sync with Him. So I need those gentle reminders (tugs on my leash) to keep to the left, be in line with my Handler and always start our walks with the left foot (smile). Now, the leash expression isn’t about God clasping our leash to some outside tree leaving us tied up, unsupervised, un-socialized, and seemingly forgotten to fend for ourselves. But in love, He asks that I keep short accounts with Him, so His spirit can guide my ways.
Have you ever read those advertisements for those “stretchy” leashes for dogs? Then how can we apply that vision to our life with Christ? (Okay, so my mind goes there—do not leave me hanging thinking I’m the only one here that does that!). Let’s have some fun and apply the ads right now!!
Uses for God keeping a short, yet flexible leash on us:
* For effective behavioral training and to maintain better control.
* Training with no straining- to enjoy a generous range of movement and flexibility.
* Leash material absorbs jolts and all weather conditions, as well as, being chew- proof.
(Chew- proof- MY FAVORITE!)
* Bring the joy back. Fully guaranteed or you can get your money back.
I know what lies ahead for me…. Bark collars (to “sap” those grumbles away); muzzles (to “nip” those bitty gossip habits in the bud); invisible fences (“shock” reminders that He is my Master). Can you see where this is going? Now you are ready for that good ol’ boy biscuit.
Here I Am Lord
Here I am Lord, passionately awaiting You-
with hands raised towards the Heavens
and arms outstretched
I am prepared to receive
all that I can have from You.
My path and direction are Yours-
my heart is open
and soul hungry
so with this attentive spirit
to Your will …
I will follow.
Use this servant for Your delight-
for my only purpose
is to radiate Your very imagine
my faith remains fixed
grounded in the Word of Truth…
Send me.
Simple Blessings
